4 Tips for Choosing the Perfect Office Furniture

When you consider how much time you spend in the office, you realize how important it is to make sure that you are comfortable in the workplace. The environment or design of the office will have a huge effect on productivity.
Most employees suffer in silence in the workplace, and all this can be avoided by simply choosing the right furniture. Furniture can have a huge effect on the office atmosphere. There are simple tips that can help you to buy the best office furniture.

Determine your needs
Before you start shopping, you should create a list of all the items that you need. Start with your most basic needs before you can include extra accessories. The list should be determined by how you intend to use the office or the work you will be doing. Whether it is a home office or commercial space, the function will determine the most appropriate furniture. Do not overlook storage space for all your items and documents. If you meet clients in the office, make sure that you think about this additional space.
Consider your location
If you are moving into a new office space, you need to think about the best way to use the space. The location of the windows and door will determine the best spot for the furniture.
You also have to think about the position of wall electrical outlets. You might be more flexible when designing your home office, but in a corporate setting, you are more limited when it comes to furniture placement. Your location will help to determine the best size and type of furniture for the office.
Comfortable design
Look for furniture that is designed to suit your needs for maximum comfort. Test the chair and desk so that you can be sure that you buy ergonomic pieces that will enhance efficiency. You can find items that work well for you depending on your taste and your body type.
You need a good size office desk that will hold your equipment, while also providing storage space. A good quality and durable tabletop will help to make sure that your desk maintains the good look for long. Easy maintenance is an attractive quality.
Consider the style
You need to look for furniture that will suit your style. This is your personal space and you can look for items that will reflect your personality. Where Modern Architecture Meets Business

Mumbai, better known as the commercial hub of our county, is constantly abuzz with industrial and commercial activities. While start-ups in Mumbai are constantly on the rise, even established companies are looking to expand their reach. Setting up new offices or looking out for new spaces becomes a norm in such an environment. But does our cramped city have the ability to offer space for more?

The answer lies in the concept of business parks. The advantage of these office parks is that in a defined space, a number of office buildings can be grouped together. With distinguished internal features and external amenities, business parks offer enough to cater to the needs of corporates and companies. And it doesn't stop there.
It is no wonder that L&T's Business Park in Navi Mumbai are attracting a large number of IT companies, ITES and corporates. Seawoods, a unique combination of commercial, retail and hospitality, is being designed on international standards.
The internal features of this business park will include fully air-conditioned offices, high efficiency spaces, elevators, CCTV security, smoke detection and fire fighting systems. The external amenities will comprise a cafeteria, gymnasium, sit-out areas and much more. Superior traffic management with ample parking space is also being developed with utmost care by L&T. High-rise towers will house the commercial offices. Small and large floor plates will ensure that all kinds of clientele are catered to. These features are all set to make this business park in Navi Mumbai an upcoming, iconic destination to watch out for.
Apart from the upmarket offices and its employees, Seawoods will also have a number of leisure and entertainment options. With the Seawoods-Darave railway station being only a stone's throw away, this place will surely attract a number of couples, families and professionals. The excellent connectivity makes Seawoods a convenient option, especially for retail activities.
Over the past few years, people have started realising the growing potential of Navi Mumbai's real estate market. Recent reports have also suggested that Navi Mumbai and Thane will see highest price rise in realty. A growing number of industrial and commercial activities are taking place in places like Airoli, Vashi and Belapur. Considering the lack of space in Mumbai, people are now looking to expand retail, residential and office spaces to Navi Mumbai. With the future looking bright in terms of returns, it looks like Navi Mumbai is all set to become the next commercial hot-spot.

Architectural CAD Services: BIM In Construction Management And Facility Operation

The job of Architectural CAD Services is to see a project through to its occupancy stage, but their responsibility often doesn't end there. The owners or the caretakers need to consult the architectural CAD services regularly for a host of important decisions during the occupancy period of the building. Therefore, facility operation is as important an aspect as the construction management. Modern building construction is getting more and more complex with new ideas, materials and construction techniques being introduced each day, so much so that often the architectural CAD services cannot rely on old techniques or methods to pull them through the projects. Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a relatively new concept that helps the building professionals to carry out their projects efficiently within the available resources.

Role of BIM in construction management:
Architectural CAD services have to face multiple challenges in order to deliver efficient, attractive buildings: budget constraints, accelerated time schedules, insufficient or incorrect information, and limited manpower. Yet, their reputations are on the line all the time, if they fail to deliver, they cannot survive. There should be an absolute clarity and perfect coordination in the architectural and structural designs as well as the designs for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing services. If two things are allocated the same place, the design is doomed to fail. Building information modeling can help detect such disastrous collisions and contradictions at the initial stage itself and identify the exact location of the discrepancies. BIM simulates the virtual construction model before the actual construction of a building and thus can help immensely in reducing uncertainty, working out solutions of complex problems, analyzing potential impacts, and improving overall safety.
All the consultants can input vital information in the model before start of construction and verify that there are no conflicts in various design elements. This model can help the architectural CAD services during the construction process and the owners of the building when they take over the possession.
Facility operation:
When the project is handed over from one entity to the next during the lifecycle of a building, information losses are quite common phenomena. This sometimes makes the future decisions difficult and at times even risky for want of some vital information. BIM can bridge these losses by allowing each entity to add to and also reference back to all the information that has been contributed to the BIM model. Building operation and management can be facilitated by BIM by adding all the necessary information that may be used during its occupancy.
Building Information Modeling is a shared information resource of a building facility that forms a reliable basis for the future decisions during its complete lifecycle. Many building professionals have embraced it to make their working more efficient.

Non Toxic Polyurethane Alternative - What Is The Best?

Polyurethane is one of the most durable products available and is used for a multitude of functions. More durable than both plastic and rubber by a factor of 8 to 1, polyurethane can be used as a substitute for even steel due to its resistance to rust, fungus growth, mold, and mildew. Polyurethane can also be bonded to metal, fabric, ceramic, wood and in some cases provide a waterproof layer of protection for marine and recreational products. Because of its remarkable durability, polyurethane can reduce the frequency of replacement and cut down on installation and labor costs.

Even given its immense durability and wide range of benefits, this substance has one major drawback: a toxic substance included in its ingredient list called isocyanates. Polyurethane chemistry is based on the reaction of isocyanates with active hydrogen containing compounds.
Technically speaking, isocyanates are compounds including one or more of the highly reactive isocyanate group. This group will readily react with hydrogen atoms more electronegative than carbon. Methyl isocyanate was the causative agent in the Bhopal Disaster that killed thousands of people in India and are potentially dangerous irritants to the eyes and respiratory tract, despite their relatively low acute toxicities.
Polyurethanes have variable curing times, and the presence of free isocyanates in foams vary accordingly. During this curing period workers need to wear masks to protect themselves, yet its still not a foolproof strategy for avoiding the danger of inhaling toxins.
Several companies are now in the pioneering stage of creating non-toxic polyurethane alternatives, which have minimal or zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including Hybrid Coating Technologies. Hybrid Coating makes "Green Polyurethane", which has zero VOCs and zero isocyanates. The product is stronger than a typical polyurethane and has the resistance of an epoxy making it an ideal alternative to traditional polyurethane with isocyanates.
Other solutions include epoxy resins without isocyanates, but epoxies are notoriously short lived and must be replaced every year or so, while in contrast a Non toxic polyurethane can last 5 to 10 times longer than the strongest epoxy. In clean environments such as schools, restaurants and hospitals, it is becoming even more critical to find alternatives, which create zero risk for children, patrons and patients and requires no shutdown from toxicity.
When choosing your binding and coating materials the ultimate combination is to first make sure the material is non-toxic VOC free. Then look for both strong resistance properties to account for environmental challenges and high durability to extend the life of your coating as long as possible.
John Primus is an industrial chemist from Southern California who advocates avoiding toxic polyurethane and using non-toxic solutions like Green Polyurethane from Companies like Hybrid Coating Technologies a Northern California high tech coatings company.

5 Tips For an Architectural Portfolio

For any student in CAD college or architecture training, the prospect of creating your portfolio can feel overwhelming. After all, a strong portfolio is one of the most effective ways to catch the eye of potential employers and graduate-level schools alike. The good news is that there are ways to make the task easier, more efficient, and even fun. Take note of the five portfolio creation tips that follow, and you'll have a great head-start on creating the perfect architecture portfolio.

Consider Your Audience
• Depending on the purpose of your portfolio, its contents will vary. Undergrad architecture programs will be looking for a basic and broad understanding of architectural concepts, while graduate programs will want more detail and specialization. If you're creating a portfolio for a potential job, take a look at their past designs to get an idea of what they might be looking for. Knowing your audience will give you a strong starting point from which to work.
Showcase Your Personality
• No matter who your target audience is, chances are they'll be looking for someone with passion. When selecting projects to include in your portfolio, be sure to choose those that demonstrate the elements of architecture that influence you the most. By showing a potential employer or school the reasons you love architecture, you'll be giving them valuable information beyond a simple demonstration of your skills.
Avoid Information Overload
• It may be tempting to include a large number of projects that demonstrate a wide range of skills, but less is often more when it comes to portfolios. Try to choose five or ten projects that best show your skills and ambitions. The people who view your portfolio will appreciate a shorter length, and will have more time to take in each individual project.
Tell Your Story
• One side benefit of including fewer projects is that you can give more detailed information about the projects that make the cut. Provide some information about what inspired you, and include concept sketches that formed the basis of the final product. By providing information about your creative process, you'll demonstrate what makes you tick, which is more likely to stick in someone's mind than simply showing them the final product.
Enjoy the Process
• Though creating a portfolio can be stressful, it is also an excellent opportunity to have fun and show off your creativity, probably the reason you think CAD college is for you in the first place! Instead of worrying too much about landing a job or getting into a particular school, do your best to enjoy the process. If you are able to have fun while creating your portfolio, it will show in the end result.
When the process is over, all that's left is getting your portfolio in front of the right people. If you have done the job to the best of your ability, you'll have nothing to worry about when it's time to get into CAD School or architecture training, or to land your dream job.

Missouri Get Your Business Online - Clockwork Architecture and Design

Architectural CAD Conversion

Various online and outsourcing companies offer the services for Architectural CAD Conversion now-a-days. Many old timers often wonder why do we exactly need architectural CAD conversion in the first place? What is so important about it that so many new companies are coming up boosting that they are the best in the business?

Adobe systems created a file format called PDF, or portable document format, that allows the users to view each page in sequence, with the advantage that the viewed pages appear exactly as they would look in print. PDF is a very versatile format, it can hold text, tables, images, pictures, graphs, PowerPoint slides and even drawings, and there is no distortion in case the data is reconverted into the original format. Since Adobe reader, the reader required to view these files is usually pre-installed in practically every machine, it is easy to view these files whenever required, and these can also be viewed on almost all web browsers.
CAD softwares use the file format DWG to store the heavy two dimensional or three dimensional design data. Architectural, Civil engineering and all the related services use this file format for design and drafting work as CAD softwares offer several powerful tools and intelligent features to create all kinds of designs with unprecedented freedom and flexibility.
While DWG files have enormous possibilities as far as designing and drafting work is concerned, there is one big problem. These files are so heavy that transporting them through email is virtually impossible. This is where we require CAD to PDF conversion. PDF files are small and manageable, and can easily be emailed to any destination. The recipients can again view these drawings in DWG format by doing the PDF to architectural CAD conversion. These reconverted files are ready for drawing and editing or simple viewing. These conversions are useful for many professionals like architects, interior designers and civil engineers etc.
Salient points:
Files converted from PDF to DWG offer fast and efficient editing and a more comprehensive design environment.
Architectural CAD conversion retains original colors and formatting from the PDF files.
One doesn't require converting the entire document, specific pages can also be selected and converted.
Location, shape and thickness of lines are retained in the converted document.
Comments can be placed in the PDF files without affecting or distorting the original drawings, so these comments can be removed after necessary corrections and editing from the DWG files after the conversion.
All these features have made the Architectural CAD conversion very convenient and popular in the modern era where 2D and 3D CAD softwares have changed the face of the design industry.

Career Advice - Interior Design

Architectural Drafting Services: Stone Is Forever

Architectural drafting services must be one of world's oldest surviving professions. Ever since the man began living in groups and needed permanent shelter, architectural drafting services must have existed in some form or the other. Stone as a building material has always fascinated man, and this is quite natural since his first shelters were the stone caves. Permanent nature of the stone structures must also have fascinated man in those early days, in fact it still does.

Stone was a material that was available in abundance, as much as wood, and these were two materials used most frequently by the early architectural drafting services for construction. Across all continents and countries, ancient architecture used all kinds of stones in every conceivable form and size.
Stone is such a versatile material that designers were able to give it two very different, very distinct architectural faces. It was used to create monumental architectural meant for royalty, and signified power, wealth, permanence and grandeur. On the other hand, it was also used on a smaller scale for domestic purposes, and signified modesty, simplicity, and a more human face. Ancient Egyptian pyramids and Greek structures still remain the symbols of splendor and unearthly beauty. Tajmahal built by an emperor for his beloved wife remains a symbol of love, an attraction for tourists from all across the world even after many centuries. Stone buildings made on a smaller scale are perhaps not that permanent or famous, but they too served their purpose with distinction and provided safe, secure and comfortable shelter for countless people under difficult living conditions.
Modern steel and concrete architecture has somewhat pushed the use of stone as a pure construction material into a secondary role, but it has lost its importance by no means. It is still used for pure load bearing walls in the regions where it's the locally available material and is a symbol of vernacular architecture. It is still largely used in both urban and rural settings depending on the usage and style of the structure. Finely worked, accurately cut blocks, sometimes with jewel like polish are used to enhance the quality of exteriors of high profile buildings, while polished stones like granite and marble are used to beautify the building interiors. Field stone, rubble or roughly cut or worked stone is used for domestic and smaller buildings where stone is cheap and easily available.
Stone is a building material that has been with man eversince he started living in permanent dwellings and architectural drafting services will keep using it in one form or the other in the centuries to come. It will remain with man till the end of civilization, and beyond.
